Time Shivers Productions presents On Purpose
2026 Winter Matariki Season
Basement Theatre, Lower Greys Ave, Auckland CBD
8pm, 4th-8th of August
Starring, Directed, Written and Produced by Aidan O’Malley, Lachie Oliver-Kerby & Oscar Fitzgerald
Three wanderers are stuck in a rut. They’ve been trying and failing to write a sketch show for... ever?
Yeah, that's good! They're stuck in Purgatory! Caught in a loop of chaos and creation. But can they escape? And how? And if they do escape… where will they go? Heaven? Hell? Your place?
As their relationship begins to deteriorate, so too does the show - threatening their fragile existence. The trio soon discover they must put their differences aside and discover their true purpose if they’re to escape.
Their purpose: find their purpose.
On Purpose is the newest offering devised, produced, and performed by Time Shivers Productions. An absurdist, Brechtian sketch show that will leave you wondering: …why?
“Put a quote or something here, I reckon.” - Time Shivers
OH?
From humble beginnings as three best mates sharing poems & sketches weekly in living rooms, beaches, and by the bins at shit parties across the motu, On Purpose is the concentrated vision of our second long-form project. After a (nearly) sold out season of F.ART! at Basement Theatre in 2025, and a successful season at New Zealand Fringe Festival, The Time Shivers boys are back with their spiritual and evolutionary successor for 2026. You can find a review for our most recent show F.ART here.
WHAT THE HELL IS A TIME SHIVERS?
Time Shivers is a team of three multi-disciplinary artists who just woke up. What's the time?! Shivers! And their goal? To create a new wave of entertainment across stage and screen in Aotearoa. Time Shivers is the creative Frankenstein’s monster of theatre, sketch comedy, television and film from three wanderers who finally pulled their thumbs out to Make Aotearoa Groovy Again! For short… actually, never mind.
Lachie, Aidan & Oscar are combining all of their skills, talents, and respiratory conditions to create an empire. With two new plays, three television series, a short and a feature length film all currently in development, Time Shivers is a kaleidoscopic meteor of laughter, discomfort, melody, philosophy, absurdity, heart, satire, discordance, and pure folly, hurtling towards a new era of entertainment in Aotearoa.
SORRY, WHO?
Lachie Oliver-Kerby is an Aotearoa-born & Hong Kong-raised actor, composer, writer & producer. Acting credits include Head Girl, Kurī, Big Girls Don’t Cry, and Not Even S2, with composing credits including Please Don’t Break Anything, In Other Words, Thieves of Te Rā, and Here If You Need, for which he won Best Original Score at New Zealand Webfest 2022.
Aidan O’Malley is an Auckland-based actor and theatre-maker trained at the University of Otago and The Actors Program. His stage work includes Bystanders, F.ART! and The Haka Party Incident, performing to sell-out audiences in Auckland and Christchurch, as well as touring nationally. Screen credits include Golden Boy, Secret Santa, Shortland Street, The Man Outside, Brokenwood Mysteries and Baddies. When not performing, Aidan can usually be found off the leash outdoors, half-covered in dirt, writing poems and sketches.
Oscar Fitzgerald studied the arts in Canterbury and Auckland and is now studying to be a teacher of literature, media and drama. In his down time, he's an actor (Shortland Street, The Panthers, Sweet Tooth) director, poet, and writer. He'd love to one day be paid for any or all of these things, ideally at the same time.
