World Buskers Festival returns to Ōtautahi Christchurch 21-31 January 2027

Buskers from all over the country and the world are still able to apply to join the party in Ōtautahi Christchurch this January as the World Buskers Festival cartwheels into town again.

For more than three decades, World Buskers Festival has transformed Christchurch into a giant open-air stage, where street performers, circus artists, comedians, musicians and creative mischief-makers bring the unexpected to life around every corner of the city.

For performers whose craft thrives on spontaneity, audience connection and stopping strangers in their tracks, the Festival is inviting proposals from emerging and established artists across all performance styles, including Māori and Pasifika arts, street theatre, circus, comedy, music and contemporary performance.

All buskers are welcome in Christchurch!

Ten unforgettable days of street theatre, circus, comedy, cabaret and jaw-dropping spectacle will once again transform Ōtautahi Christchurch into a giant stage as the iconic World Buskers Festival returns in January.

From internationally acclaimed performers to daring acrobats, outrageous comedians, family favourites and late-night cabaret, the festival brings together an extraordinary line up of artists from around the globe in a programme packed with laughter, silliness and surprise.

Free/hatted and pay-what-you-can outdoor performances sit alongside ticketed headline shows, with the festival offering something for every age and budget. Gravity-defying stunts, quirky characters, interactive entertainment or simply a memorable night out - there's always something happening around every corner.

The full World Buskers Festival 2027 programme will be announced mid-November.
